I'm glad I didn't watch this rubbish. I don't understand why we travel all the way to China to play shit and lose. We could have stayed at home to do that like we used to do when we'd lose to the likes of Southend or St. Albans. Ok, I know we get a few bob for it, but it can't be much and enough to make up for all that travel and discomfort.

Pellegrini's blind spot over the LB position has to be addressed, as it should have been last year by his predecessor. Baffles my why he seems reluctant to do anything about such a glaring weakness.

At best this season, we will challenge for 7th maybe 6th in the league and a bit of a cup run.

Barring injuries, none of that will change because of performances in pre season.

RM10,

Man City were beaten by Wolves.

There's a bigger gulf in class between them two sides, than us and Newcastle.

Cresswell is fucking shit, there, I've said it

I ain’t a cry baby but losing to that shit Newcastle side with playing subs like we were doing was piss poor, that said we played with no striker the whole game!

CryBabies,

If you undertood football, you'd know that having a new manager with 10 new players to integrate (also chuck in injuries and our best striker being a stroppy cunt) were the major reasons for our inconsistent season last year. Even so, we still nearly managed to qualify for Europe. I won't even go into the details of the dodgy decisions that went against us.

When we played our strongest teams this preseason, low and behold we was moving about well and playing excellent football. Again, if you understood football, you'd know that the manager has to play all the sqaud in all pre season games, to get everyone's fitness up. That means the fluidity of the play can be disrupted.

There were lots of players out yesterday, new players to come in and players that are still coming back to fitness from serious injuries, like Reid, Sanchez, Lanzini ,Yarmolenko and Wilshere.

Understand that, CryBabies.

cresswell, for a long time now, doesn't look interested

Re: Asia Cup v Barcodes
What was blatantly obvious from yesterday's game is that we need a decent LB in before the season starts
Yet another goal conceded from that area of the pitch as happened all last season down to Cresswell meandering out of position
His lack of understanding with Anderson is dumbfounding. You would think yesterday was the first time they'd ever played together in the same team
We always look vulnerable on the left side when Anderson & Cresswell play together. One of them has to go and it's not Anderson!
Masuaka and Anderson is a much better combination but it's far from ideal
Our performance yesterday lacked power and purpose from both full backs
Fredericks is ok at RB and we looked better when Johnson came on for Zaba

Do you even understand football?
Do you not see how unfit we are? Not just preseason, but continuously, throughout every season?
Can you not see the lack of movement and understanding of where players are supposed to be? We are all over the place.
433 does not work, unless you leave all 3 in the attacking positions, otherwise it becomes 451 and the striker is isolated.

Lesson 1 over.

My best guess is that we will do the double over them in the PL.

But yesterday's result will be one of the best bits of consolation for them when they get relegated.

The bit I saw at the end mentioned that Bruce sat in the stands as he had a tourist visa rather than a working one so wasn’t entitled to work ... obviously
The players then mentioned that he’d been working with them and had changed them to 3 at the back

Obvious breach there .... I presume we will be awarded a 3-0 win overnight.

They looked organised and we struggled to break them down yet we had gaps all over the place.
Not a good game to watch.
Loads of work still to be done.

West Ham in North Carolina was a lot of fun. I know it's not ideal for preseason but it's the only chance I've had to see them live in the last 7 years. A lot of hammers turned out for that as well.

Totally agree Pedro. The claret shorts and socks just dont work.

Aware in minority but think our kit looks awful.

Too much claret going on

Better get it together before the season starts, it'll be another poor showing otherwise.

Pre season games are for sharpness and fitness..

Although today was crap.

Yarmalenko looked shagged last week, although it was his first game back. He played some nice football, although I don’t think we’ll see him breezing past players like say Antonio does.

Re: Asia Cup v Barcodes
I thought Rice was good and showed if we had decent midfield backup hed be a better option at CB than Reid or Ogbonna.

Watson was excellent when he came on and looked more comfortable on the right. Agree he is for me moving in front of Zaba and Cresswell as first reserve full back just for his athleticism.

Wilshere looked very sharp. Some lovely little cruyff-style passes. Snodgrass added energy. Yarma got some time although his lackmof acceleration with the ball concerns me - looks a bit loping for a wide man.

Other than that, the rest of the game was pure negatives

And not one strike on goal...against Newcastle... ???
Unbelievable...

Norflundon 4:55 Sat Jul 20
Re: Asia Cup v Barcodes
Few positives
Thought Wilshere looked good as did rice in both positions, thought Johnson looked good again when he came on and good to see Reid and Yarma get some more minutes both look a long way from full fitness
Plenty of negatives
All the outfield players bar rice and he wasn’t great were poor in the first half
Sanchez looks like an absolute liability in virtually every game he plays and although he wasn’t great today Cullen looks a much better player to me
Zaba and cresswell were terrible I can actually see both falling behind Johnson in the pecking order this season and imo not buying a left back will be a massive mistake this summer
